April 2012 President's Message

The Weingart Foundation believes that funders are most effective when they solicit and incorporate feedback from their grantees and applicants into their grantmaking plans. Every March, our Board of Directors and staff meet for two days to discuss the strategic focus of our Foundation’s grantmaking for the upcoming fiscal year.  A critical part of this planning process involves identifying key assumptions related to the internal and external environment nonprofits and funders will be operating in over the next 12-18 months.  These assumptions help guide and inform our Grant Plan for our upcoming fiscal year.

We are pleased to share the FY2013 Grant Plan Assumptions, which were developed in consultation with more than 100 nonprofit leaders throughout Southern California. We welcome any feedback you may have related to these assumptions. You can comment anonymously by using the “Tell Us What You Think” link on our homepage.   

We will post a summary of the FY2013 Grant Plan on the Foundation’s website in July 2012 following its approval by the Board of Directors in June 2012. The Plan will include updated assumptions and key strategies we intend to pursue in FY2013. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
