Executive Service Corps of Southern California
An ancient Chinese proverb tells us, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Embodying the wisdom of that statement, the Weingart Foundation Board funded an initiative for Executive Service Corps of Southern California (ESC) to create a program aimed at strengthening the fundraising efforts of nonprofits and enhancing self-sufficiency.
Homeless Healthcare Initiative
John T. Gurash was the last active Weingart Foundation Board Member to work closely with Ben Weingart. Shortly before his death at age 92 in 2003, Gurash suggested a grant initiative to address the health needs of homeless individuals on Skid Row.
